The SB-109 is the most demanding back profile in our wall range. Six semicircular lobes, each about 12 in (30 cm) wide, form a continuous wave, and a slim metal trim roughly 1.25 in (3 cm) wide is formed to follow the wave without a break.
Construction. Each lobe is a separately framed and upholstered element set into a common back frame, so the curves stay crisp and the fabric does not pucker at the valleys. The trim is formed to a full-scale template taken from the approved drawing. Seat on HR foam over ply; plinth base.
Specifying it. Because the lobe width sets the rhythm, the overall length should be a multiple of the lobe width plus end returns; we will propose lobe counts on the drawing. Plain or small-scale fabrics read best; large repeats are cut lobe by lobe and pattern continuity across lobes should be agreed in advance. A full-size mock-up of one lobe is recommended before the run.
Where it works. Feature walls, cafe-lounges and hotel lobby bars where the banquette is the signature piece, and design-led restaurants that want a softer, more decorative line than channels.
